"Porgy's is one of the places I always visit when I'm back in town.

The BBQ sandwiches are fine, but the real specialty here is the rib tips. The tips are hit or miss: when they're good, they're amazing: tender and juicy, smothered in their thick, sweet barbecue sauce. But even on an off day, they're better than anybody else's in town.

Other specialties are the half chicken and (around the holidays) the smoked turkey leg."

"Aww yeah! That smoky barbecue aroma used to permeate the windows of my car every time I drove by. Awesome chicken, and the staff are funny and friendly. No, it's not healthy, but it's good for the soul to indulge once a year. Twice."

"I live in Urbana and go to Li'L Porgy's at least twice a week. They've got some of the best BBQ I've ever had. The half chicken is a bargain, and the lemon shakeups are great. Definitely go to Porgy's"

"Porgy's is a small, unassuming establishment that serves a traditional menu with surprisingly non-traditional cooking style. The barbecue sauce is unusual and delicious, with an almost Middle-Eastern flavor. Prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is pretty hole-in-the-wall, but that's how barbecue joints SHOULD be. This Kansas City native recommends it highly!"

"Li'L Porgy's business has suffered since the opening of the nearby Famous Dave's, but it's still my favorite BBQ. Their ribs are cooked over a slow wood fire and their prices are reasonable, especially for the daily specials. The pork sandwich special on Tuesday and rib slab special on Friday are highly recommended. They're also a good choice for catering."

"Li'L Porgy's is a small place but yet very good. With different specials each day they are reasonably priced. They have delicious rib tips, pork butt sandwiches, steak fries and excellent lemon shakeups. You can easily dine in or call ahead for take out."
